GOVERNMENT REWATI RAMAN MISHRA P.G. COLLEGE

इस महाविद्यालय की स्थापना स्थानीय नागरिको के लम्बे प्रयास के परिणाम-स्वरुप सन १९८४-८५ में तात्कालिक उच्च शिक्षा मंत्री श्री भंवर सिंह पोर्ते के द्वारा की गई थी। प्रारम्भ में सीमित संसाधनों से नगर पालिका से लगे नेहरू बाल सदन के छोटे से भवन व नगर पालिका के सामुदायिक हाल में महाविद्यालय का प्रारम्भ हुआ. जन सहयोग से फर्नीचर पंखे एवं अन्य आवश्यक संसाधन जुटा कर कला एवं वाणिज्य संकाय के प्रथम वर्ष की कक्षाएँ शुरू की गईं, बाद में आवश्यकता पड़ने पर नगर पालिका के द्वारा दो अतिरिक्त कमरे महाविद्यालय को प्रदान किये गए , जिसमें बी. ए. एवं बी. कॉम अंतिम की कक्षाये प्रारम्भ हो सकी। सात वर्षो के बाद १७ सितम्बर सत्र १९९१ को तात्कालिक मुख्यमंत्री श्री सुन्दरलाल पटवा ने २६.५ एकड़ भू-खंड के साथ महाविद्यालय को स्वयं के भवन की सौगात दी। भवन मिल जाने से छात्र / छात्राओ को उच्च शिक्षा के लिए अनुकूल वातावरण मिला, समय के साथ-साथ महाविद्यालय में नियमित प्रवेशित छात्र / छात्राओ की संख्या लगातार बढ़ती गई उल्लेखनीय है कि अविभाजित मध्यप्रदेश में सबसे बड़ी तहसील होने का गौरव प्राप्त करने वाले, आज के जिला मुख्यालय सूरजपुर स्थित इस महाविद्यालय को शासन के द्वारा जिले के अग्रणी महाविद्यालय का दर्जा प्रदान किया गया है। यह महाविद्यालय प्रारम्भ में गुरूघासीदास विश्वविद्यालय बिलासपुर से सम्बद्ध रहा है। महाविद्यालय का भवन सूरजपुर के गुरूघासीदास वार्ड में स्थित है । यह महाविद्यालय विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग की धारा २(f) एवं १२ (b) के अंतर्गत पंजीकृत है। महाविद्यालय का संशोधित नामकरण पूर्व विधायक पं. रेवती रमन मिश्र के नाम पर रखा गया है। वर्ष 2016 में राष्ट्रीय मूल्यांकन एवं प्रत्यायन परिषद् (NAAC) द्वारा इसे प्रथम साइकल में ''B'' ग्रेड प्रदान किया गया। वर्ष 2023 में राष्ट्रीय मूल्यांकन प्रत्यायन परिषद् ( NAAC) द्वारा इसे द्वितीय साइकल में "B+" प्लस ग्रेड प्रदान किया गया है।

Principal'S Desk :

It gives me immense pleasure to introduce this college, as a multidisciplinary college, in the tribal district Surajpur in Chhattisgarh state. This college was established with an approach to create an outstanding status in the educational standard by providing the best possible higher education. Considerable investment in the college has been made over the last few years in order to meet the demands of the consistently growing student population. This includes the building of new teaching skills and upgrading of the existing areas. Our College is affiliated to Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya Sarguja, Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. Our college is forging ahead academically in all five streams like Arts, Commerce, Science, and Computer Science , suited to meet contemporary needs of youth while giving acknowledgement to the imperatives of pragmatism, it ensures that knowledge never drowns in the sea of information. The college has, equally convincingly , carved a niche for itself in the realm of co-curricular activities. This is the result of an early recognition of the impertinence of a rounded, well-developed personality, guaranteed by a balanced blend of academic, cultural and sports talent. Students are encouraged to actively participate in a great number of events, organized and promoted by numerous committees. A very well endowed library and excellent laboratory facilities are additional assets. It is little wonder, that this college has positioned itself firmly on the map of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya and Figures on its merit lists with unfailing regularity. We assure personal attention & care and a healthy environment for the optimum development of the students. Performance is analyzed from time to time thorough Tests, Examination & Group Discussions. Modes of improvement are suggested & implemented with the help of dedicated and well qualified staff. A good rapport between students & teachers is encouraged for the benefit of learners.
